Isolation

I was hoping to put up a post before this, but we've had some unforeseen circumstances which have meant we've been without a tablet or laptop until yesterday.

So we've survived a week of isolation, it feels weird having to do this again, but this time it's a bit different as we only have a tiny little balcony as our "outdoors". The kids are doing great, despite being bored out of their little minds, they have been remarkably good, a combination of lots of new things to see out the windows, and just a new adventure, even if it's only in our apartment for now.

Our flights over were a mixed bag, Singapore Airlines created a system whereby all passengers transiting through from Aotearoa or Australia would be shepherded through into a separate part of the airport, and then boarded into the back of the next plane, so not coming into contact with anyone just hopping onto a flight in Singapore.
Great in theory, but when the plane landed in Singapore, a dozen airport staff came onboard wearing PPE gear and rushing everyone into getting off as fast as possible. It was an incredibly stressful situation, exacerbated by William having a meltdown at the same time (for unrelated reasons).
In the carnage we left our Android tablet on the plane, and despite mentioning this to the crew as soon as we entered the gate, it has yet to be found...great.

Other than that, the flights were fine, the kids got very little sleep, which meant we both got next to no sleep, so were pretty knackered once we got into our apartment. Maddie hit the wall half way through our flight from Frankfurt to Dublin and despite all her efforts to stay awake fell asleep for about an hour before we landed.

Since we've been in our apartment, we've just been trying to get all the admin done, in between keeping the kids entertained. Getting tax numbers (PPS), spouse Visa for Danielle, sim cards, bank accounts etc.

So one week left of isolation, then we are going to start looking for our next home, we want to try apartment living, which is convenient as the suburb (if you can call it that) where I'm working (Microsoft) is just full of apartment buildings, with a few that we like the look of in close vicinity to both work and Maddie's school. It's going to be interesting being a kiwi and not needing a car for everything, especially after spending the previous 8 odd months travelling 2hrs a day in the car to take Maddie to school and back.
